Wednesday we were once again back in the busy city of London, this time to visit Covent Garden and the British Museum, and to enjoy a spectacular production of Dream Girls at the Savoy Theatre in London's famous West End.
During the morning rehearsals continued, and all the students are making amazing progress. The orchestra is getting to the core of their repertoire, solidifying everything and working together as a tight ensemble. The choir are blending and singing wonderfully, and the saxophones have achieved noticeable progress regarding extended techniques and ensemble playing.
The pianists had a very exciting morning learning about the organ with Clíodna Shanahan, as well as individual lessons, sight-reading, and private practice time. They also continued work on their research projects.
After the morning sessions we went straight to the coaches and headed for London. Once arrived we split into groups to explore the West End - with the exception of some history enthusiasts, who paid a visit to the British Museum before rejoining their friends in Covent Garden for dinner.
After dinner, it was time to end our trip with a show. Dream Girls was a spectacular production, with brilliant choreography and some truly stunning vocal performances - we were all spellbound throughout. After an exciting and busy day, we re-joined the coaches for a sleepy drive back to Winchester. A fantastic day out, and a perfect break before the days ahead preparing for our concerts on Saturday!
