The Ingenium 2018 Blog - Welcome Day

16 July 2018

Welcome to the Ingenium Academy 2018! Welcome day is finally here and we are so excited for the start of the course. Yesterday we welcomed students from all over the world, for our first week of inspirational music making.

On Sunday our pastoral team were at Heathrow and Gatwick airports, as well as London St Pancras International, ensuring that each student was met with a sign and a smile – and a selfie, of course! Then we headed to Winchester to unpack and meet everyone.

Whilst waiting for all of the students to arrive from the airport we took advantage of the lovely sunny weather and went on the playing field where we enjoyed some team-building games. We got to experience a few typically British outdoor games like rounders and splat, where the students had a chance to socialize and get to know each other.

In the evening we got to meet all of the staff members and then we headed straight to bed for a well deserved rest to get us ready for a week filled with fun and musical activities.

Today we kicked off our Chamber Music, Composition, Piano and Conducting courses with our inspirational music staff. Our students had their first attempts at working on some compositions and we were off to a great start in our newly made chamber ensembles.

After a hearty lunch we sang the jet lag away in a lovely whole school sing with Michael Betteridge. But more on that in tomorrow’s blog where we are going to share with you our adventures from Day 1 of the Ingenium Academy 2018.

We are very excited that the course has finally begun and we can’t wait for the next 4 weeks and to uncover the enormous amount of talent that our students have to offer.
