Our new students settling into Ingenium life

It is Sunday and that means we are saying hello to lots of new students. Our fantastic pastoral team were ready at Gatwick and Heathrow airports, as well as London St. Pancras International, to greet arrivals with a smile and a selfie. We sadly also had to say goodbye to some of our leaving students, giving them a proper Ingenium send off. Come back next year!

Greeting new arrivals at Heathrow Airport

Whilst many of our brilliant team safely picked up students from the airport, the rest finished sorting rooms, noticeboards and making everything look impeccable for our newbies. They were also on hand to say hello to people arriving during the day, show them to their rooms and encourage them all to make new friends. Our current students even gave tours and welcomed everyone into the Ingenium family.

Exploring the Music School

The afternoon brought more arrivals and a first activity for this week’s lineup: Battle of the Bands. Students were put into ‘bands’ and with a song of their choice created the best version they could by using their instruments and adding choreography. We then all gathered to listen to each other’s masterpieces, with our judge Alejandro declaring the winner at the end. There were memorable performances all round, and all took the opportunity to get to know their new friends and have fun.

By dinner time the rest of our students had arrived safely in Winchester and were united with the rest of the kids and staff. We then gathered for our Whole School Meeting to officially welcome everyone and set them off on our first evening activity of the new week, "Taskmaster". In a series of fun challenges including ‘Composer Creation’, ‘The Great Duck Hunt’ and ‘The Chopstick Chase’, the students worked together in teams to complete tasks against the clock. Everyone enjoyed themselves and there was a feeling of positivity all round as we prepared to head into a new week of music.
